Hypnotherapy For Depression
Is Depression Holding You Back?
Depression is a complex mental health condition that disrupts the way you think, feel, and behave. It can affect the way you live your daily life and isn’t something that can go away on its own. Conventional treatments and medicines may work to a certain extent but may not address the underlying cause of the condition.
Hypnotherapy is a suitable additional and alternative treatment for depression that uses hypnosis. While other treatments only focus on the signs and symptoms of depression, depression hypnosis goes beyond addressing the signs of the illness and gets to the core of the issue.
As your hypnotherapist for depression, my approach at London Hypnotherapy & NLP involves the use of hypnosis in combination with NLP and other customised forms of coaching to manage depression. I aim to help you escape the grip that depression can hold on you and achieve a more balanced, happier life.

Common Issues We Address with Depression Hypnotherapy
Persistent Feelings of Sadness or Hopelessness
Hypnotherapy for depression helps by changing negative feelings to more positive ones at a cognitive level, eliminating the root of negative emotions and helping you to see life more positively.
Lack of Interest or Pleasure in Daily Activities
Depression hypnotherapy works on a subconscious level, allowing you to rekindle your interest towards daily activities and making life fulfilling once again.
Difficulty Concentrating or Making Decisions
Depression hypnosis sessions can improve focus and mental clarity by reducing the anxiety and stress that often accompany depression. After our sessions, you’ll find it easier to concentrate and make decisions with confidence.
Chronic Fatigue or Low Energy Levels
Depression drains your energy, leaving you feeling as though even the simplest tasks are too overwhelming to accomplish. Depression hypnotherapy helps by aiding your mind and body to relax, even boosting your energy levels.
Sleep Disturbances
Night disturbances are a characteristic of depression. Depression hypnosis helps reduce the thoughts that disrupt sleep and improve the regulation of your wake-sleep cycle, addressing sleep issues like insomnia.
Feelings of Guilt or Worthlessness
During your hypnotherapy for depression sessions, you’ll self-observe what leads to your feelings of guilt or worthlessness. I’ll help you strengthen your attitude toward yourself and build a positive self-image.
Irritability or Frustration
Depression leads to feeling irritable and, in turn, easily frustrated. Hypnotherapy for depression addresses these issues, helping you to develop patience and face challenges calmly.
Social Withdrawal or Isolation
Depression hypnosis can help you resist the urge to isolate yourself. It addresses the phobias or worries that prevent you from embracing social interactions.
Physical Symptoms Without a Clear Cause
Depression can also make you physically sick, and depression hypnosis can help ease these symptoms. Hypnotherapy can reduce the physical symptoms associated with depression, allowing your body to relax, easing muscle tension and lowering any associated pain.

How Hypnotherapy Works for Depression
Hypnosis for depression brings your subconscious mind into a deeply relaxed state and makes it more receptive to positive messages. In this state, I can help you change the negative way of thinking, so you’re less likely to experience hopelessness, low mood, and negative emotional responses while increasing your feelings of hope and motivation.
My depression hypnotherapy sessions can help you decode what is leading you into a depressive state, from unaddressed trauma to unresolved grief. As your mind opens to positive suggestions, you’ll learn to modify the self-critical and pessimistic thoughts into empowering feelings.
Through my depression hypnosis sessions, you’ll be able to reduce your feelings of stress and anxiety and improve your energy and motivation levels. These positive changes can drive away the physical effects of depression, including fatigue, sleep issues, and appetite changes.

Types of Depression
According to Mental Health UK, there are about 8 types of depression disorders.
Clinical Depression
Also known as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), clinical depression is the most common form of depression, characterised by persistent low mood, fatigue, lack of interest or pleasure in activities, changes in appetite and/or sleep, and feelings of guilt or worthlessness. You may be diagnosed with depression if you experience these feelings for at least two weeks; also known as a depressive episode. It’s possible to experience mild, moderate, or severe depressive episodes.
Recurrent Depressive Disorder
Experiencing at least two depressive episodes could be a sign of a recurrent depressive disorder, with any episode being classified as mild, moderate, or severe.
Reactive Depression
If your depression is triggered by challenging experiences in your life, it can be classified as reactive depression.
Dysthymia or Chronic Depression
When you experience continuous, low-level depression lasting two years or more, you may receive a diagnosis of dysthymia, also known as persistent depressive disorder or chronic depression.
Manic Depression
Manic depression is an outdated term that has since been replaced with bipolar disorder, and this illness isn’t the same as depression. People dealing with this mental health condition may experience varying periods of low mood (depression) along with periods of extreme highs.
Psychotic Depression
If you’re diagnosed with psychotic depression (or psychosis), you may experience severe episodes of depression with hallucinations and delusions. A hallucination is hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, or feeling things that aren’t real, while delusions make you believe in things that don’t match up with reality.
Prenatal and Postnatal Depression
Prenatal depression affects pregnant women, while postnatal depression can take place after childbirth, affecting both women and men. Low mood, irritability, fatigue, and anxiety are all common symptoms.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a depressive disorder that’s triggered by the changing seasons, with symptoms most commonly seen in winter. You may experience a change in mood, energy levels, eating, or sleeping patterns as the weather changes.

Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is safe as long as you work with a trained professional hypnotherapist, like Dr Kamal.
How do I know hypnotherapy is right for me?

How many depression hypnotherapy sessions do I need to have?
The number of hypnotherapy sessions you need for depression will depend on the severity of your illness and how deeply the patterns are entrenched in your mind. While there is no fixed number, my clients have reported seeing results after just one session.
Is sadness, hopelessness or emptiness becoming too much to cope with?
I only see clients for as long as I need to, rarely do I need to see anyone longer than 2 to 3 sessions. From session one, you will begin to feel lighter, with a regained sense of hope and fullness from a new perspective on your purpose in this life.
